In this dramatic reconstruction, Joan Allen and Adrien Brody are among the actors giving English voice to a polyglot cast recalling Dr. Emanuel Ringelblum’s efforts to record and preserve the minutiae of Jewish life and death in the Warsaw Ghetto. Their Oyneg Shabbes (i.e., “Joys of Sabbath”) Archive — 60,000 pages of writings and memorabilia — preserves Jewish history through Jewish words and work, to keep the Nazis from redefining them.
