Virtual Cinema FAQ

How do I access the films?
To access the films enter the virtual cinema here.

How much do the virtual films cost?
All of the virtual films for the Feel-Good Film Festival are by donation. You can either donate here, or you can donate after you order your film in the virtual cinema. With donations of $18 or more you receive a charitable tax receipt. With donations of $36 or more you will see your name on the Thanks page of the VIJFF website. There are also other donation levels with benefits including complimentary nosh boxes, access to the Fall films, and more. For more information on the best donation level for you click here.

Do I have to pre-order films?
No, you do not have to pre-order films. If you do choose to pre-order your films you will receive a confirmation as well as a reminder email which you may find helpful. 

Note: The first time you pre-order or order a film, you will be asked to set-up an account either via Facebook or by entering your email address and creating a password.

Can I do a test before the virtual film series begins?
Yes, click here to try the virtual cinema and test your device.

How long do I have to view the films?
After the film becomes available you will have 72 hours to start watching. Once you begin watching, you will have 24 hours to finish watching.
 
Can the films be viewed more than one time?
Films can be paused and re-started throughout the 24 hour viewing window.

After I ordered a film I was asked to leave a donation, how does this work?
After every order you will automatically be prompted to leave a donation. If you already donated either before a different film or on the VIJFF website just exit the donation prompt.

Can I rate the film after viewing?
Yes, and we request that you do. Once the film is completed you can rate the film by going to back to the film page.
 
How do I access the opening night live comedy event?
To access the opening night live comedy enter the virtual cinema here.

Do I have to pre-order the opening night live comedy event?
Yes, you must pre-order for the opening night live comedy event. After you pre-order you will receive an email with further instructions. 

Note: The opening night live comedy event will be using Zoom. Please ensure you download the latest Zoom client and have tested your computer audio prior to any events. How to join Zoom.

Will the comedy event be interactive? 
Yes, it will be interactive. We encourage everyone to use the chat feature in Zoom to say hi. The Comedians may also choose to interact with you as part of the show.  

I was unable to attend the comedy event, will I be able to watch it a later date?
Yes, the comedy event will be available in the virtual cinema within 24 hours of the live event.

Additional Technology Tips

How to watch the films on your Smart Television using Streaming Devices:
Chromecast – With a Google Chromecast device, you can ‘cast’ directly to your television from any compatible app or device. Chromecast is built into many smart tvs, and also available as additional hardware. You can stream films on Chromecast by ‘casting’ from your smartphone, tablet, or computer on the same Wi-Fi network.  For information on using your Chromecast, click here

AirPlay – Screen sharing is available using your Apple AirPlay enabled device or SmartTV (most Samsung TVs).  Instructions for screen sharing from an Apple device using your Apple TV using AirPlay can be found here

How to watch the films on your television with no Smart TV capabilities:
HDMI Cable – Using a special cable available at many stores, you can connect your computer or mobile device to your television.  If you have a laptop or nearby computer with an HDMI port, you can connect it directly to your television, using it as a second or external monitor. Some laptops or computers require special adaptors or dongles to connect to the HDMI cable. The details will depend on your setup.  We recommend referencing your television and computer manuals for more information.
