VIJFF has been working with drive-in staff and according to public health and safety guidelines in order to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. We are counting on you to do your part.  Click here to see the health and safety measures which include making sure that vehicles are parked at least 6ft (2 meters) apart, and encouraging all attendees to stay in their vehicle throughout the movie. 

Drive-In Information

What are the drive-in dates and times?
The drive-in festival is 3 nights from Sunday, August 23 to Tuesday, August 25.  The films are scheduled to begin at appx 8:30pm (+/-15 min) depending on the sunlight. 

Where is the drive-in theatre located?
The drive-in is located at the University of Victoria, Parking lot 10.  To see maps and parking lot information click here or click here to open the location in Google Maps.

How much do tickets cost?
Tickets are $36 per vehicle, so you can bring as many people that will legally fit into your vehicle for the price of one ticket. Each ticket receives a nosh (snack) box for 2.

What is the refund policy?
There are no refunds or exchanges on admission, unless the show is cancelled due to weather, power outage, or another emergency situation.

When should I arrive?
You will be guided to a parking space when you arrive, starting with the front (closest to the screen) and moving toward the back of the lot. We suggest that you show up 30 minutes before the screening to ensure that you get a spot near the front.

Can I reserve a parking spot?
To ease the flow of traffic and ensure Covid-19 safety guidelines, Legacy Drive-In does not allow spot reservations.  If you would like a good spot closer to the screen, please arrive 30 minutes before the selected movie showtime. 

Do you have a handicap parking near the washroom facilities?
Yes, you can request a spot near the washrooms.  Please contact Deborah at to request a handicap spot.

Do I need to bring my ticket with me?
Yes, please bring a printed ticket or a copy of your ticket confirmation on your mobile device.  A staff member will need to scan the QR code that you received with your confirmation to grant you entry into the lot. You don’t even have to roll down your window!

How will I be able to hear the movie audio?
The audio is sent to your vehicle using an FM transmitter, which means you can listen through your car radio – 88.7fm. If you’re concerned about your vehicle’s battery, you can also bring a battery-powered analogue radio with you. Digital devices will not work.

Can I leave my car running during the film?
No, you must turn off your car and your headlights once you are parked. This will assure that you and others will see and hear the film clearly and avoid unnecessary exhaust. If you need assistance contact a Legacy Drive-In staff member at 236-300-2216.

What if my car battery dies?
In the unlikely occurrence your car battery dies, a staff member will be present to give your vehicle a jump after all other vehicles have vacated the lot. If you need a jump, please wait in your vehicle or contact a Legacy Drive-In staff member at 236-300-2216.

What if it rains?
We want to make sure that you have the best experience.  However, the theatre will continue to operate in rain or shine. If it starts to rain during the movie, we suggest you use your windshield wipers. The only time a films is cancelled and rescheduled is due to high winds – 50k/hour+ – in which case you will be notified.

What if I need help to the washroom facilities?
A staff member will be present near the washroom facilities for assistance purposes. We suggest bringing a flashlight for additional light, and If you need assistance contact Deborah from the VIJFF at 250-882-4527.

Can I sit in my lawn chair outside my car?
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, you must stay in your vehicle at all times unless you are using the washroom facilities.  When restrictions are eased, we will announce this officially and allow more liberal seating arrangements.

Can I sit in the trunk of my car?
Yes, but for the sake of other guests, please make sure that your trunk lid does not obstruct the view of the people behind you. We suggest bringing rope or bungie cords to hold it level with the roof of your vehicle.

Can I bring my own food?
Yes, but you will receive a complimentary delicious snack box for 2 with every ticket purchased.

What if the night is cold?
We suggest wearing layers and bringing extra sweaters, blankets and even a nice warm beverage.
